El Patio has flourished as a local favorite, not just for the quality of its dishes, but also for the welcoming ambiance and friendly service. Diners often rave about the Salsa—its flavor is described as “amazing” by patrons like Craig M. Sills, who also highly recommends the San Antonio Burrito. The extensive menu features a variety of options to cater to all tastes, including enticing fajitas and the delectable cheese chili relleno, a personal favorite among regulars.
For those seeking a filling and satisfying meal, the Speedy burrito and carne asada enchiladas promise to deliver flavors that linger long after you've left. However, every culinary experience at El Patio is not without its bumps. While many have praised the dishes, a few customers have pointed out inconsistencies in service and food temperature, suggesting that while it excels in flavor, there’s still room for improvement. For instance, Johnny Rey had a less favorable experience regarding the accuracy of his order, reminding us that every restaurant has its off days. Nevertheless, the overwhelming number of five-star reviews showcase El Patio’s commitment to quality.
Lastly, save room for dessert, as fried cheesecake and tres leches cake stand out as must-try items on the menu. These sweet treats round out what is generally a delightful dining experience. Oh man! If you want some authentic Mexican Food, this place is a must. Salsa is amazing and the San Antonio Burrito is great.
Great fajitas and chips with salsa. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
All I can say is that the food was delicious!!! I ordered the Speedy for lunch and everything was great! The service was on point. Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling through Mexia, Texas. My wife ordered the chili relleno
The food was cold, and it didn't have any flavor I asked for charro beans instead of refried beans and he still brought me refried beans So I asked if I could still get my charro beans He said yes and never brought them to me. Should have gone to the Farm House down the street for catfish
Very clean. Service was good but nothing special. Plates were hot food was not. Lots of food on the plate though. Lunch special Monday through Friday 10 AM to 3 PM. Unfortunately, the server failed to ask if we wanted beef or chicken on our lunch selections. I got beef by default and I don’t eat beef I eat chicken so that was disappointing. On the positive side, as the pictures will show, the inside was relatively clean bar was beautiful. Extensive bar menu bathrooms were clean although the door knob was broken on the ladies room. Overall typical nothing special Mexican restaurant but I’ve been to worse and I’ve been to better so try it. Just don’t set your expectations very high and you’ll have an enjoyable experience.
We love this place. It’s where my old favorite, Los Pepe’s, once was - but I have to say, El Patio has done a great job of taking its place. I am a creature of habit, and I have ordered the cheese chili relleno more times than I should probably admit…lol. But it’s so good. I often get the sauce on the side, but you can choose from any of the sauces they offer & you can add pretty much any protein - I just happen to love the plain old, oooey-gooey stringy cheddar cheese. My 16 year old son loves their carne asada enchiladas & the shrimp nachos. The service is good, restaurant is clean, oh! And don’t forget dessert. They have a fried cheesecake that is not to be missed. The tres leches layered cake is amazing and even the plain cheesecake is pretty good - but no comparison to the first two I listed. The fajitas for 2 will feed 4 - so it’s a steal & so good.
We were staying at Ft. Parler State Park over the weekend but the rain keep us locked up in the cabin but I wanted some fajitas, who doesn't! The food was good and satisfied my fajitas craving!
Great vegetarian menu and a full bar. Everything we had was good.
